Palm Jumeirah is built from reclaimed land in the shape of a palm tree, with a trunk lined by shops and restaurants, fronds packed with private villas, and a crescent breakwater holding the big resort hotels including Atlantis The Palm. It is not a neighborhood people live in casually, it is a destination, and getting there reflects that: this is the one major Dubai landmark that the metro does not reach directly.

The standard route is the Red Line to Sobha Realty station (formerly Nakheel), then the Dubai Tram to the Palm Jumeirah tram stop, then the Palm Monorail, which runs from the Gateway Towers at the base of the island out to Atlantis at the tip. The monorail is a separate paid ticket, not covered by your Nol card, and it is also the most scenic leg of the trip, running above the trunk road with water on both sides. Taxis and rideshares are the alternative if you would rather skip the connections.
Dining and things to do cluster around Atlantis (aquarium, waterpark, restaurants) and The Pointe, a waterfront dining and entertainment strip at the base of the island with a fountain show of its own, smaller and less crowded than Downtown's. Nakheel Mall, near the tram stop, is a practical stop for food court options and everyday shopping before or after the monorail leg.
Because of the extra connections, Palm Jumeirah works best as a half-day or full-day trip rather than a quick stop. Budget at least an hour each way once you include waiting for the tram and monorail, and check opening hours for whichever attraction is the main draw, Atlantis, The Pointe, or the beach, before you commit to the trip out.
