Lost Something on the Dubai Metro? Here's How to Get It Back

Left your phone, wallet, or bag on the Dubai Metro? Here is exactly how to report it, contact RTA, and actually get it back.

Leaving something behind on a train is one of those small panics that happens to almost everyone eventually, and Dubai Metro is actually a fairly good place for it to happen. Between the CCTV coverage and how quickly staff process handed-in items, most lost belongings do turn up if you report them fast.

Here's what to actually do the moment you realize something is missing, rather than after you've already left the station.

Report it immediately, not later

The single biggest factor in getting an item back is speed. If you notice something is missing while you're still near the station, go straight to the customer service desk near the ticket gates and explain what happened. If you're already gone, call RTA's toll-free helpline on 8009090 as soon as possible.

Either way, try to remember specifics: which line you were on, roughly what time, which station you boarded and got off at, and ideally which carriage. None of this is required, but it dramatically speeds up the search.

How the system actually works

Items found by cleaning staff or handed in by other passengers get logged and sent to RTA's central Lost and Found facility, rather than staying at the station where they were found. This means a phone lost at Union station might end up being collected from a different location entirely, so always confirm the collection point when you call.

Valuable items like phones, wallets, and passports are generally prioritized, and it's common for these to be recovered within a day or two of being reported, especially given how much of the network is covered by CCTV.

  • Report immediately at the station desk or call 8009090
  • Note the line, station, approximate time, and carriage if you can
  • Items are usually sent to a central facility, not held at the station
  • Bring valid ID to collect anything once it is located

If you left something on a bus or tram instead

The same RTA helpline and Lost and Found process covers Dubai's buses and tram as well, so you don't need a different number depending on which part of the network you were on.
