Complete Guide to Dubai Metro Feeder Buses (2026)

Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) operates a network of 64feeder bus routes that connect metro stations to areas the rail network doesn't directly reach. Whether you need to get from Mall of the Emirates to Al Barsha 3, from Business Bay station to the towers along the canal, or from Etisalat Metro to Muhaisnah, there is likely a feeder bus that covers your route.

How to Ride a Feeder Bus: Step by Step

  1. Find your route -- Use the search bar above or browse by station. Each route page shows the full stop list with estimated travel times.
  2. Exit the metro station -- Follow signs to the bus bay area at ground level. Feeder bus stops are marked with the route number (e.g. F01, F11).
  3. Tap your Nol card -- Board through the front door and tap your card on the reader. If you exited the metro less than 30 minutes ago, no fare is deducted.
  4. Tap out when you exit -- Tap your card again at the rear door reader when you get off. Forgetting to tap out may result in a maximum fare charge.

Feeder Bus Fare Structure

Fares are based on how many RTA zones the route crosses. Most short neighbourhood routes stay within a single zone (AED 3). Longer routes crossing two zones cost AED 5, and the few routes spanning three zones cost AED 7.5. The key benefit: if you transfer from the Dubai Metro using your Nol card within 30 minutes, the feeder bus ride is entirely free. This makes the metro-plus-feeder combination one of the cheapest ways to travel across Dubai.

Red Line vs Green Line Feeder Routes

Red Line feeder buses (F01-F40) serve stations from Centrepoint/Rashidiya in eastern Dubai through Deira, Bur Dubai, and along Sheikh Zayed Road to Jebel Ali. They cover areas like Al Baraha, Muhaisnah, Mirdiff, Al Satwa, Al Quoz Industrial Area, Al Barsha, Sports City, and The Greens.

Green Line feeder buses (F41-F81) connect stations in Deira and Bur Dubai to areas including Business Bay towers, Discovery Gardens, Dubai Investment Park, Jebel Ali Industrial Area, and Al Warqaa. Several routes serve worker accommodations and industrial zones that have limited metro access.

Tips for First-Time Riders

  • Keep at least AED 7.50 credit on your Nol card to avoid being denied boarding on longer routes
  • Peak hours (7-9 AM, 5-8 PM weekdays) have the shortest wait times but the most crowded buses
  • Buses are fully air-conditioned -- useful given Dubai's summer temperatures exceeding 45°C
  • Real-time bus arrival info is available in the RTA Dubai app (S'hail) and at some bus shelters
  • Friday schedules often start later and run less frequently than weekday service
  • During Ramadan, operating hours and frequency are adjusted -- check the RTA app for updates

Frequently Asked Questions about Dubai Metro Feeder Buses

What are Dubai Metro feeder buses?
Dubai Metro feeder buses are RTA-operated public bus routes that connect metro stations to surrounding neighbourhoods. They carry the "F" prefix (F01, F02, etc.) and are designed as last-mile transport, bridging the gap between the nearest metro station and your actual destination.
Are feeder buses free with a Nol card?
Yes, if you tap out of a metro station and board a feeder bus within 30 minutes using the same Nol card, the bus ride is free. This applies to Silver, Gold, and Personal Nol cards. If you board without a metro transfer, standard zone-based fares (AED 3 to AED 7.5) apply.
What are the operating hours of feeder buses?
Most feeder buses operate from 5:30 AM to 11:30 PM, seven days a week. During peak hours (7-9 AM and 5-8 PM on weekdays), buses run every 7-12 minutes. Off-peak frequency is typically 12-25 minutes. Schedules may change during Ramadan, public holidays, and Fridays.
Which metro stations have feeder buses?
27 metro stations across both the Red and Green lines have feeder bus connections. Major hubs include Mall of the Emirates (6 routes), Stadium (4 routes), Etisalat (4 routes), and Business Bay (4 routes). Not every station has feeder service — use the "By Station" tab above to check.
How much does a feeder bus cost?
Feeder bus fares depend on the number of zones crossed: AED 3 for single-zone routes, AED 5 for two-zone routes, and AED 7.5 for three-zone routes. If transferring from the metro within 30 minutes using a Nol card, the ride is completely free regardless of zones.
Where do I catch a feeder bus at the metro station?
Feeder buses depart from designated bus bays located at the ground level of metro stations. Follow the bus icon signs after exiting the station. Each bay displays the route number and destination. Bus stops are sheltered and air-conditioned at most stations.
Can I use Apple Pay or Google Pay on feeder buses?
No, feeder buses only accept physical Nol cards. You must tap a Nol card (Silver, Gold, Blue, or Personal) when boarding. Apple Pay and Google Pay are not yet supported on Dubai's bus network. You can purchase a Nol card at any metro station ticket office or vending machine.
Do feeder buses run on Fridays and public holidays?
Yes, feeder buses run seven days a week including Fridays and public holidays. However, Friday morning service may start later on some routes, and frequency is typically reduced on Fridays, Saturdays, and during Ramadan. Check individual route pages for exact timings.
